Paul Robinson has claimed that Leeds United attacker Raphinha has proved a better signing than Diogo Jota for Liverpool.
He said that the £17m fee that Leeds paid for the Brazilian tips it in his favour and that he has to go down as the “bargain of the season”.
He added that Leeds should get his agent in and tie him down to a longer contract ahead of the summer transfer window.
Raphinha was in brilliant form again on Saturday against Sheffield United, setting up a tap-in for Jack Harrison with some brilliant skill on the right.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said “Is he the best signing of the season, better than Jota at Liverpool?
“He’s definitely in the top three signings of the season.
“You look at the price they paid for him and look at Jota. The price they paid probably tips it in Raphinha’s favour.
“You’d have to say he’s not just the signing of the season but the bargain of the season.
“The best thing they can do is tie Raphinha up to a new contract.
“They should get his agent in and say, ‘How long does he want and how much does he want?’
“Tie him down for as long as they can. He’s been absolutely brilliant. He wouldn’t be out of place in any of the top six sides.”
Raphinha was signed late on in the summer window and he’s become a massive Leeds fan favourite already this season.
He’s scored six goals and added six assists, compared to eight goals and no assists for Jota.
The Liverpool forward is on a reported £90k-a-week and scored two off the bench in his last game against Arsenal.
We wouldn’t swap him for Raphinha and we hope that Leeds can see off any interest in him this summer.
