Red Bull to pump millions into Leeds United after investment reveal

Red Bull would likely need to pump millions into Leeds United again to increase their investment, Dan Plumley has said.

It was revealed on 18 December that the energy drinks giant is planning to increase investment within their football clubs, and the Whites could benefit [City AM].

Plumley, a football finance expert, shared that it would remain a minority stake with The 49ers Enterprises staying in control at Elland Road.

“It seems to be,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News when asked if it would be a case of a fresh investment of millions.

“We’ve not seen any numbers to that yet but there’s a few things around the edges of it.

So, one is a part of the deal originally was that Red Bull could increase their stake, but we believe that to be a minority still, rather than the majority given the 49ers’ ownership.

There is also Red Bull coming away from some other investments to double down on their football investments and this may be a part of that as well.

Red Bull to pump millions into Leeds United

Of course, they’ve got Jurgen Klopp starting as head of football operations in January, so they seem to be doubling down on their overall strategy to invest in football, and of course, with the proviso, they were always likely to invest further in Leeds.

We don’t know what that may mean in numbers of millions yet, but I think whichever way we cut it, it was always a like play that was always going to happen.”

Paraag Marathe has pledged his commitment to Leeds on more than one occasion, so even with added Red Bull investment, he would likely stay in charge.

With the Premier League desperately wanted at Elland Road, that added investment alongside promotion could catapult the Whites back to the top – fingers crossed.
