Pundit wants Leeds United inquest after major Patrick Bamford reveal on Tuesday

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson is demanding an inquest at Leeds United into why Patrick Bamford has missed so much of the season due to injuries.

Bamford, 28, has barely played this term due to three different injury issues and he was initially meant to return from his most-recent foot injury at Arsenal on Sunday (8 May).

However, the striker’s return has been pushed back until at least next week with Jesse Marsch telling the media on Tuesday (10 May) that “he won’t be available” to play against Chelsea [LeedsLive].

Ex-Leeds goalkeeper Robinson is angry about the continual injury issues Bamford has had this term and has taken aim at the club’s medical staff for failing to get him back to full fitness.

Robinson also feels that the striker simply must play in Leeds’ final two games of the season – against Brighton and Burnley – due to the club’s plight in the Premier League.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Leeds should take the risk in the last two games.

If you look at it on paper, leave Chelsea at home but if he can come off the bench and do anything… The whole injury with Patrick has been grossly mismanaged. He should never have been out for the amount of time he has been out.

I think there needs to be some kind of inquest to look into how and why he’s been out for so long. He’s missed the majority of the season.

If you look at other players who’ve undergone operations, the amount of time they’ve been out for compared to the time Bamford’s been out for, you do start to question the medical team.

He should’ve have been out that long but when there’s a game on the line to stay up, you have to take the chance.”

Bamford has played just 10 times in all competitions for Leeds this season.
