Pundit blown away by 'outstanding' Leeds United ace Jack Harrison v West Ham
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson was delighted with Jack Harrison’s performance in front of goal on Sunday as the winger scored all three of Leeds United’s goals in their win at West Ham.
Harrison, 25, went into the game in good form after scoring versus Burnley in the last Premier League game but no one can say that expected the Stoke-born attacker’s display of lethal finishing at the London Stadium.
His goals ultimately won the game for Leeds and Robinson was over the moon with how he’d rediscovered his form after a tough start to the season.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I think you’ve got to give him a lot of credit for the way he’s been this year.
There’s been the situation with Dan James coming in and Raphinha’s been very good and plays whenever he’s fit. You thought it was going to be between Harrison and James.
“Unfortunately, Patrick Bamford’s been injured so one of them has played higher up like Dan was on Sunday but Jack’s shown attitude and application this season when he’s been carrying a lot of injuries.
“There have been times this season when the squad has been threadbare and maybe at times he wouldn’t have played if there weren’t injuries.
“He’s played through the pain barrier himself and now he’s fully fit, he’s firing on all cylinders.
“He was outstanding against West Ham.
“He’s refound his form and has shown what he can do. When he first came to Leeds, they were the levels we were used to.
“He dipped for some reason and some players do that but I do think this season, he’s played when he shouldn’t have done with injuries.
“But he’s battled on and you’re seeing now a player who’s at the top of his game. His work rate and attitude are excellent.”
Harrison hadn’t scored in the Premier League this season until the 3-1 win over Burnley on 2 January.
However, he now has four goals in two appearances and that hat-trick versus the Hammers helped Leeds move well clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are able to bankroll a major bid to sign this central midfielder.
