Leeds United able to outbid rivals to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez
Leeds United are the only team in the race to sign Nahitan Nandez who can afford Cagliari’s valuation of the midfielder, according to La Nuova Sardegna.
The Sardinia-based news outlet reports that Cagliari wants £20.8million for the 26-year-old Uruguay international and Torino, who are also keen, may only be able to agree a loan-to-buy deal.
However, it is understood that Cagliari will not budge on their valuation of Nandez even if they agree a loan-to-buy, meaning Leeds are the only team capable of being able to strike a deal for him.
La Nuova Sardegna adds that no offers have been made for Nandez so far this month.
Nandez – again
It wouldn’t be a transfer window without Leeds United being linked with Cagliari’s Nandez.
It was Rodrigo De Paul who had never-ending links with a move to the Whites after our promotion but overlapping that was Nandez.
Italian news outlets just love to talk about Leeds in regards to Nandez and we’re really unsure why because there has never really been a concrete report from English media suggesting he’s on Victor Orta’s radar.
Of course, we have a need for midfielders and have done for a long time.
Nandez is a midfielder – that’s one tick for Marcelo Bielsa – and is also versatile – that’s another tick.
He does sound like the kind of player who Bielsa would like as he’s been described by 90min as a box-to-box midfielder who’s “a capable passer and is brilliant at advancing play”.
He’s an all-round midfielder and that’s what Leeds could do with. But there’s just nothing to suggest from these shores there’s ever anything in these links.
We’ll see and we wouldn’t mind being proven wrong but we just doubt it at this stage.
In other Leeds United news, a “complete” central midfielder has shown he’s perfect for the Whites with a last-minute winner on Saturday.
