Pundit baffled by Rodrigo transfer development at Leeds United after request made
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson cannot understand why Barcelona would want to sign Rodrigo from Leeds United.
El Nacional reported on 15 January that Rodrigo, 30, has told Marcelo Bielsa he wants to leave Leeds this month with Barca already in contact over a potential deal.
It is understood that Rodrigo has struggled to settle down in Leeds and feels that a move to Barca would increase his chances of making the Spain World Cup squad later this year.

However, Robinson cannot believe that Barca would want to sign the former Valencia star due to how well he’s performed since joining Leeds last year.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I’d be surprised if Barcelona were interested in him because he’s not been good enough.
“He’s not put any kind of performance in where you’d expect a team like Barcelona to be interested in him.
“If he wants to move back to Spain and the club is willing to sell, then you can understand that.

“But a club that’s a world superpower like Barcelona, Rodrigo’s performances haven’t been good enough where I’d be extremely surprised if he went there.
“It’s certainly not based on recent form. That will be on the quality he does possess and the quality he hasn’t shown in a Leeds shirt.”
Rodrigo returned from injury on Sunday as he came off the bench in Leeds’ 3-2 win away at West Ham.
Unfortunately, the Spain international played a role in Leeds having a goal disallowed.
He’s scored nine goals in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Whites since joining last year from Valencia.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are able to bankroll a major bid to sign this central midfielder.
