Paul Robinson reacts as Archie Gray travels to Spurs with Leeds squad
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson was left thrilled as Archie Gray travelled with the Leeds United matchday squad to Spurs.
The former Whites goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, labelled the 15-year-old as an “exceptional” talent.
Gray was all smiles when arriving in London on Sunday, with this just proving how highly rated he is by Marcelo Bielsa at Thorp Arch.
Gray obviously wasn’t involved in the matchday squad, but it was another step closer to where he eventually wants to be.
Having only made his debut for the under-23s against Chelsea last Friday, that could become a regular feature under Mark Jackson.
Jamie Redknapp labelled him as “Tremendous” live on Sky Sports and Robinson clearly agrees with his assessment.
“I’ve known for a long time that he’s the next cab off the rank,” he told MOT Leeds News.
“There’s a lot of good youngsters. Gray is going to be the next one, I think he was the captain of the England under-16s in recent weeks and he’s an exceptional talent.
“I think he’s the first one of a couple of Gray’s who have come through the academy, a very famous name. He’s the next one.“
This is certainly one to watch as the season progresses.
Could Gray make his Premier League debut and become one of the youngest players ever in the competition? It is a real possibility.
With Bielsa at the helm, Gray certainly has a real chance.
