Paul Robinson predicts another goalkeeper arrival at Leeds United as well as Kristoffer Klaesson
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson predicts Leeds United could sign another goalkeeper as well as Kristoffer Klaesson to add an experienced option for Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds are closing in on a deal to sign Norway Under-21s goalkeeper Klaesson, 20, from Valerenga [The Athletic] but Robinson has shown concerns about the Whites having a young back-up for an already young number one in Illan Meslier.
However, Robinson feels that it would make a lot more sense if Klaesson is being signed to play for the Under-23s and claims another goalkeeper who’s more experienced could come in to be Bielsa’s number two.

“He might not get any first-team football unless he goes into the Under-23s and is developed as one for the future,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“He could have a season or two in the Under-23s and an experienced goalkeeper could come in. Mark Jackson could watch his development and then another one could be brought in.”

Klaesson has already arrived in England to put the finishing touches to his move to Leeds United.
Nettavisen journalist Stian Andre da Wahl exclusively told MOT Leeds News earlier this week that Leeds requested the 20-year-old was left out of Valerenga’s matchday squad on Sunday as they played Olso rivals Lyn.
VG journalist Wegard Bakkehaug has reported on Twitter that the deal for Klaesson will cost Leeds around £2million plus future bonuses.
Is that the kind of deal that Leeds would push for if he was joining up with the Under-23s?
Klaesson is on the verge of earning a senior cap for Norway and has already played over 50 times for Valerenga’s first-team.
He isn’t as experienced as Meslier and is also younger than the 21-year-old Leeds number one.
But he’s too good to be in the Under-23s.
In other Leeds United news, this “brilliant” player has been left out of a matchday squad amid strong speculation linking him with a move to Elland Road.
