Paul Robinson: Mateusz Klich didn’t deserve social media abuse after Leeds United loss v Chelsea
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson has hit back at the social media abuse thrown at Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich this weekend.
The former Whites stopper insisted that it is too easy for fans and others to have a preconceived idea of players online without knowing them.
Klich was forced to delete his Twitter account after giving away the match-losing penalty in the 3-2 defeat against Chelsea.

“You can see why it was given but I don’t think it would have been given at the other end,” he told MOT Leeds News. “It didn’t take much to go down.
“The level of abuse that the players seem to get on social media, I don’t touch it, it’s not for me. It’s one of the hardest things.
“People have a preconceived idea of who you are, but they’ve never met you. It’s always going to be difficult, with Klich, I don’t think his performance deserved that.”

Unacceptable.
Those who abused Klich to the point of him having to delete his social media account on Twitter simply need to take a long, hard look at themselves.
Klich was a major reason behind us getting to the Premier League in the first place, and that clearly hasn’t lived long enough in the memory of some fans.
Raphinha also made a bad tackle, but nothing has really been made of that one – exactly how it should be.
We need to move on quickly with a game at Manchester City this evening, let’s hope that our Polish maestro can have a say in a positive outcome this time around.
