Paul Robinson: Joe Gelhardt only scratching surface of talent at Leeds United
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Paul Robinson predicts Joe Gelhardt will continue to shine for Leeds United with the teenager only scratching the surface of what he’s capable of.
The 19-year-old has wowed Leeds United fans in recent weeks with his performance off the bench against Wolves on Saturday proving to be his best yet in Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Gelhardt won the late penalty, which was scored by Rodrigo, to help the Whites earn a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Patrick Bamford’s injury issues and Rodrigo’s struggling form has led to calls for Gelhardt to play more and even start first-team matches.
Robinson is over the moon with what we’ve seen from the former Wigan teenager so far but he still expects more.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News about Gelhardt’s display versus Wolves, Robinson said: “He was absolutely fantastic. There are going to be a lot of superlatives written about this kid.
“We know, from a Leeds point of view, what a top-quality player he is from his time in the Under-23s. Now he’s showing everybody what he can do on the Premier League stage.

“He only scratched the surface with what we saw last Saturday. The way he can dribble the ball, the way he won the penalty, the directness of him.
“He had a great shot earlier on that the goalkeeper had to save, he just looks like a constant threat.
“Nothing fazes him.
“The way he accepts the ball, turns and runs at the defences and get his shots off as well.
“His impact has made everybody stand up and go, ‘wow, this kid can play’ and there’s a lot more to come.”
