Patrick Bamford deserves new Leeds United contract – Paul Robinson
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Patrick Bamford “fully deserves a new contract” at Leeds United, according to Paul Robinson.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, Leeds are expected to hand the 27-year-old striker fresh terms after a stunning season in the Premier League.
Bamford was unfortunate to not make the England squad for the European Championships this summer after hitting the back of the net 17 times last season in the league.

Bamford is set to enter the final year of his contract next week and Robinson has urged his former club to get a deal done as soon as possible after the striker proved all the critics wrong.
“He fully deserves a new contract,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“I think he proved a lot of doubters and critics wrong last season. I think the way he plays in the team, the managers likes.
“We saw Rodrigo come in and he was touted as someone who could challenge Patrick for that place.
“There was a lot of talk last summer about a new centre-forward coming in and he’s managed to silence those critics.
“We’re not talking about a centre-forward coming in this summer, we’re talking about Bamford signing a new contract.
“That shows how far he’s come.”

Although Leeds have not been strongly linked with a new centre-forward, it would be good to see if Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta can find an out-and-out striker who can serve as a back-up option for Bamford.
While Rodrigo can play as a striker, Bielsa mainly used him in a deeper role last season.
Someone who’s young, up and coming and doesn’t cost the earth would be a clever addition at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, this central midfielder is ready to quit his club in favour of joining the Whites.
