Paul Robinson: Alioski 'time is done' at Leeds but Galatasaray move 'disrespectful'

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has said that he’s surprised at a report that claims Gjanni Alioski is going to move to Galatasaray

He said it’s “disrespectful” to Leeds and thinks Alioski might even get a bad reaction from the Galatasaray fans.

However, despite making 20 starts this season, he said that the player’s time at the club “is done” and that a move in the summer is inevitable.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “There’s a long history between the clubs and it’s been well documented. He’ll know why there’s such a long history.

“I think his time at Leeds has come to an end and that they need to replace him. But, while I think people are more than entitled to go where they want, it’s disrespectful to Leeds and the fans.

“It will be interesting to see what Galatasaray fans make of him.

“The hatred from the Leeds side is well known. There’s a huge grudge between the two teams. It will be interesting to see what the reaction is from them.

“I’m not sure he’s thought it through properly – it’s certainly not a move I’d want to make.

“Put that to one side, though, and his time is done. He’s not the answer at left-back, he’s more of an attacking midfielder and there are better players at the club in those positions.

“It’s time for him to move on, it’s just where he’s chosen to go that will mean he’s not going to be very popular.”

We’ve said a lot about Alioski and Galatasaray so we’re going to focus on the football side of this argument now.

Alioski has done a lot for Leeds on and off the pitch.

He’ll be missed but the club is moving up and there will be casualties along the way. Alioski looks set to be the first of our Championship-winning heroes to leave.

We wish him luck in his career but hope that he doesn’t end up at Galatasaray.
