We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has hailed the news of Adam Forshaw returning to training and said he “will be like a new signing for Leeds”.
After almost 18 months out, Forshaw made a shock appearance in the training video put out by Leeds ahead of the Fulham game last week.
He was only in-frame for a second but he was in his official Leeds training gear.
Robinson added that he hopes Forshaw can now turn training into games and make his Premier League bow with Leeds.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Adam Forshaw has been out for such a long time you just keep your fingers crossed that training now leads to games.
“He’s been such an integral part of the squad behind the scenes, in the dressing room and off the field.
“This sort of thing is said all the time but it really will be like a new signing for Leeds.
“They’ll have a new signing on the training ground and a new voice in the dressing room.
“It’s great to have him back and it’s another good player at Bielsa’s disposal.
“You just hope for him that after everything he’s gone through, that he can turn training into games.”
Forshaw hasn’t played since the end of September when it was said that he would have a chance of making the next game.
Fast-forward 18 months and Forshaw has had surgery for his hip injury and been on a long, long road back to action.
Seeing him in the Leeds training video came as a shock as there’d been no mention by Marcelo Bielsa in his pre-match press conference.
It’s fantastic news for the club, though, and we hope he can get on the pitch before the end of the season.
