Natan ‘set to pass medical’ after Leeds United transfer move

Leeds United are reportedly considering signing Real Betis defender Natan this summer as they look to bolster their backline.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed his fitness record ahead of a potential medical and transfer in the coming weeks.

Leeds have already signed Jaka Bijol from Udinese, but continue to be linked with centre-backs.

Natan expected to clear pre-transfer medical

The 24-year-old had a minor injury and that should not be grounds for him to fail his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Leeds have already made an approach for Natan, asking Betis for the conditions for the transfer, as they took the option to make his loan permanent this summer. ABC (23 June, page 71)

The La Liga side will be demanding more than £23million for the Brazilian as they’ve already turned down a bid.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Natan: “He had a muscle injury that kept him out for a game, but apart from that, I see no fitness issues.

“Natan should have no problem clearing his medical.

“However, one thing that Leeds must consider is his adaptation to life in the United Kingdom.

“He will need a gradual acclimation period to adapt to the different demands of the new league, which would mean monitoring his game time initially.”

Leeds United do not need to sign Natan this summer

Leeds United do not need to sign Natan after securing Bijol.

The 26-year-old Slovenian with 63 caps and Champions League experience bolsters a robust defence alongside Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.

Natan’s £38million price tag is excessive, especially with Ethan Ampadu’s versatility covering centre-back.

The Elland Road outfit’s priority should be a left-back to replace Junior Firpo and a marquee striker to complement Lukas Nmecha, as Joel Piroe is not expected to deliver the same numbers in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke must ask the hierarchy to allocate funds for Gabriel Gudmundsson or a proven No. 9 like Nikola Krstović to ensure Premier League survival.
