Mateo Joseph exit: La Liga journalist reveals Leeds sale stance after Farke reveal

MOT Leeds News presents the exclusive opinion of AS journalist Joe Brennan.

Leeds United have a massive decision to make, as Mateo Joseph has informed Daniel Farke that he wants to leave this transfer window.

The 21-year-old played second-fiddle to Joel Piroe last season and struggled for regular minutes.

After the Euro Under-21 competition with Spain, Joseph didn’t travel to Germany with the Whites for the pre-season training camp, and has now told the German manager of his desire to leave.

Real Betis have wanted the Spanish youngster, and it will be interesting to see how his situation progresses in LS11.

Leeds United not bending over with Joseph transfer stance

Leeds United aren’t making compromises for teams this transfer window amid Joseph’s ongoing situation, Brennan says.

The AS journalist wonders what the Whites will be willing to accept for the 21-year-old’s exit at Elland Road, with Farke revealing the striker’s desire to leave.

Brennan speculates whether the West Yorkshire outfit will now accept a lower fee for the Spain Under-21 international or opt to send him on loan, but what’s clear is that the Peacocks have been adamant about their demands in the ongoing transfer window.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, the La Liga journalist said: “Farke has just told reporters in Germany that Joseph has asked to leave for Spain. We know Betis have been linked heavily, and you’re right in the sense that his minutes looked limited, so I guess it makes sense.

“I guess the issue now is what Leeds are willing to accept. Will they take a lower offer now if Joseph leaves, or will a loan suffice? I’m not too sure, but what’s clear is that Leeds aren’t bending over for anyone in this transfer market, so it will be interesting to see how much influence player power has in this scenario.”

Farke should demand Joseph replacement before Leeds transfer

Farke has already told Patrick Bamford he’s surplus to requirements at Leeds and they arguably need reinforcements up front.

If Joseph also leaves Elland Road before the end of August, the German manager will be left with a lack of options in the number nine position.

The Whites relied on Joel Piroe last season and signed Lukas Nmecha this summer, but undoubtedly need more quality up front.

Supporters in LS11 will certainly keep a close eye on the Spanish youngster’s situation in West Yorkshire as developments should now be expected in the coming days.
