We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson wants to see Leeds United make two high-profile signings that considerably strengthen Jesse Marsch’s starting line-up before the summer transfer window closes.

Leeds have already been very active this summer, spending almost £100million on bringing in the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra.

However, they’re not done yet, according to Robinson, who wants to see Victor Orta bring in a new quality left-back and a new striker to compete respectively with Junior Firpo and Patrick Bamford.

“They’re the two you need to look at,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News when asked about whether Leeds need a new left-back and striker.

“You have to trust Jesse Marsch with the other signings.

You can question whether they’re the equivalent level of what’s left the building, if they’re as good as Raphinha or Kalvin Phillips.

They proved they can play as a team against Wolves and Southampton but the two areas you look at are left-back and striker.

Pascal Struijk has played at left-back and Patrick Bamford has played up top but if Patrick isn’t fit, the only other option is Dan James or Rodrigo as a false nine.

Left-back is a must because Stuart Dallas is out indefinitely and Junior Firpo is injured but at the same time unreliable.

It has to be an area they look at.

Leeds need to make two statement signings before now and the end of the window. They need a left-back and a quality striker who’s capable of doing what Patrick does.”

Leeds have been linked with players in both positions.

According to Forbes journalist Manuel Veth, the Whites are in the hunt for Philadelphia Union’s German left-back Kai Wagner.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay has added on Sunday (14 August) that the Yorkshire club isn’t denying reports that they’re keen on Southampton and Scotland striker Che Adams.
