Leeds United team news v Chelsea: Jamie Shackleton predicted to start by Sky pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Jesse Marsch could play Jamie Shackleton for the first time as Leeds United manager when Chelsea visit Elland Road on Wednesday night (11 May), according to Paul Robinson.

Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are both set to miss the rest of the season while Cody Drameh is unavailable despite his loan spell at Cardiff City coming to an end.

Shackleton, 22, played at right-back a lot for former manager Marcelo Bielsa but hasn’t featured at all since the Argentine’s last match in charge against Tottenham on 26 February.

Robison predicts that it’ll be either Shackleton or Diego Llorente who’ll move to right-back with Ayling suspended and Dallas injured.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “For the rest of the season, it’s a massive blow to have Luke missing.

The options for the manager are now smaller than they ever were.

They’ve got a tough three games ahead.

I think he’ll probably play Llorente or Shackleton at right-back but it’ll be a square peg in a round hole.”

Shackleton is a central midfielder by trade but 28 of his 78 senior appearances for the Whites have been at right-back, according to transfermarkt.

This season, the former England Under-20 international has played 15 times in the first-team in all competitions due to injury issues and the fact that he doesn’t seem to be in Marsch’s plans.

In other Leeds United news, Gary Neville has mocked this Leeds chief after he was spotted by Sky Sports’ cameras.
