Leeds United takeover red tape emerges after 49ers Enterprises news – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that the last sticking point of the 49ers Enterprises takeover of Leeds United will be Andrea Radrizzani agreeing on a set price.
The Daily Mail reported today (06 June) that the American consortium held positive talks on Monday and could complete their move this week, as they value the club at £170million.
Plumley admitted that would be a very good price for everyone involved, with the new negotiations making it really tricky for everyone to get what they want.

“I think £170million in the Championship is a very good price,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“I know people might disagree with that figure, but if you look at the revenue figures in the leagues, that is what you’re factoring in as much as anything. I think that figure in the Championship looks a very good figure, whether or not, that is a figure that is accepted in negotiations is a different matter.
“For me, if you can sell Leeds United for £170million as a Championship club, that is a very good figure, but it’s whether the outgoing ownership agrees with that, and that will be the sticking point over the next few days and weeks, dare I say it.
“They won’t want it to drag that long, but that is what it’s going to come down to. Obviously, the sale is ultimately easier with Leeds as a Premier League club, because it’s a bigger sale price with the exposure of the global market and you have the wider factors of being a Premier League club.
“It will be tricky, but I think, for me, if it is £170million they are prepared to pay, also they get what they want in terms of getting Radrizzani out, that would be a really good deal on paper.”

Phil Hay has already shared that the 49ers Enterprises want to push on with this takeover, as long as Radrizzani is no longer at the club once that is done.
There were suggestions he could stick around for another shot at promotion, but a clean break is needed, with the Italian no longer welcome at Elland Road, it seems.
This one is moving closer.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
