Leeds United: Sky Sports pundit shocked Hakim Ziyech transfer speculation emerges

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson is stunned to see Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech being linked with a move to Leeds United this summer.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs reported on The Football Terrace on 22 June that after ” talking to Leeds sources”, he’s been told that Ziyech, 29, is a target of the Elland Road club.

Jacobs even mooted the idea of the Morocco attacker being tied into a player-plus-cash deal for Leeds star Raphinha. However, since then, it’s been widely reported that Chelsea have agreed a fee for the Brazil star that doesn’t include any players.

Regardless, former Leeds goalkeeper Robinson fails to see why Ziyech would give up a spot in the Chelsea squad to join a Leeds side that only just avoided relegation from the Premier League last season.

“I can’t see that,” said Robinson to MOT Leeds News. “Who’s dreamt that one up?

“There’s no way that Ziyech is coming to Leeds.

I don’t think he’d fit into the system, I don’t think he’d fit into the ethos of what Jesse Marsch wants to do.

He’s a top-quality player but he’s a luxury player.

He’s not the type of player I’d want in my dressing room if we’re fighting relegation.

And I strongly suspect with his CV and the level he’s playing at, he’s not going to want a relegation fight on his hands next season.”

Ziyech played 44 times in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring eight goals and supplying six assists.

He’s won the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup in his time at Chelsea.

In other Leeds United news, documents have been exchanged for this player to leave Leeds after two weeks of going back and forth.
