Leeds United: ‘Reality’ of £300m lawsuit against Everton emerges amid allegations

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …

Paul Robinson has warned Leeds United not to “chase lost causes” in their attempts to sue Everton if they are found guilty of alleged FFP breaches.

The Daily Mail reported (3 October), that the Whites have joined Burnley and Leicester City in suing the Toffees for a collective £300million if their ongoing investigation into breaching spending proves them guilty.

Sean Dyche’s side recorded an illegal amount of losses – £315.5million worth when the maximum allowed is £105million over the three-year period. While the direct impact of a guilty verdict could be a 12-point deduction for the club, they may have another problem looming.

Robinson has claimed Leeds should chase the case if there is a good chance of getting some fair reward but warned that the club would certainly not be reinstated back to the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “We’ve seen stories like this before. It’s almost shutting the gate when the horse is bolted. If there’s any type of compensation, you’re going to take it.

“If the other teams are going in for some kind of compensation, and you deserve it, then you go in for it. It’s a tough one to swallow and it’s hard, but the reality is that they’re not going to reinstate Leeds into the Premier League.

“If there’s money to be had, you chase it, but you don’t chase lost causes. Being back in the Premier League would be a reward alone, but they’re not going to reinstate Leeds and others.”

in other Leeds United news, an unusual clause not possible in one country has been used on one Whites loanee, with a permanent exit now on the cards.
