Leeds United: Permanent Brenden Aaronson sale on the cards, he does not fit for Daniel Farke

Leeds United will look to sell Brenden Aaronson this summer as he Daniel Farke has decided he is not a fit for this squad, Paul Robinson has said.

The United States attacking midfielder, 23, was one of several players to utilise a clause in their contracts allowing them to depart on loan after the club were relegated.

Aaronson only has one goal and no assists during his temporary stint at Union Berlin, though, and it remains to be seen what will happen in the summer.

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport (24 February) that Aaronson is unlikely to run out at Elland Road again, a notion that former Leeds goalkeeper Robinson agrees with.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I think they;ll look to sell in all honesty at the end of the season.

“He’s a player the manager didn’t see would fit into his squad this season. Whether that be ability-wise, style-wise, the way the manager wanted to play or whether it’s financial reasons and Leeds had to cut their losses and had to send him out loan because of Championship wages compared to Premier League wages.

“I look at the Leeds side now, he’s not getting in that starting eleven, in the squad yeah you put him in the squad, with his application, his attitude, the way he works hard.

“At times he does a lot of running without purpose, he was guilty of that a lot of times in the Premier League, I think he was a little bit lightweight for the Premier League, got pushed off the ball a lot, lost possession a lot.

“I can’t see him coming back into the Leeds side and making an impact in the Premier League because he didn’t last season and I think he’d have found the Championship hard this season.

“I think Leeds may be in a situation where if they can’t sell him they will have to keep him in the squad or loan him out again next season. I would struggle to see where he fits now back at Elland Road.”

Will Brenden Aaronson play for Leeds United again?

There were high hopes when Leeds signed Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal reportedly worth £24.7million (Sky Sports) for the 2022-23 season.

He made a decent impression at first but it soon became evident that he needed to do a lot of adapting to make it in the Premier League.

Throw in the fact that he jumped ship at the first time of trouble, using a baffling clause in his contract to do so, and it’s unlikely he’ll be welcomed back into the Leeds fold.

The issue, of course, might be finding a buyer, especially given he has not exactly set the Bundesliga alight during his loan spell at Union Berlin.
