Leeds United issued Max Wober transfer advice ahead of January window

Leeds United have to hang onto Max Wober and make him a key part of the side before selling further down the line, according to David Norris.

The former Whites midfielder, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, says the priority simply must be adding to Daniel Farke’s numbers at his disposal rather than being open to sales.

Wober netted the second goal in Leeds’ 2-0 win over Derby County at Elland Road on Saturday [7 December].

Salzburger Nachrichten reported on 3 December that Leeds are willing to let the defender leave in January amid interest from Red Bull Salzburg and others.

“It’s a real boost to have him back. They’ll have to boost the squad in January, so getting rid of him wouldn’t necessarily be the best idea,” Norris said.

“Maybe in the longer-term, they might look for a move for him and to recoup a fee on him, but he’s becoming an important player.”

Max Wober back in the Leeds United fold

Wober has endured a frustrating campaign so far with injury struggles, having returned in the summer from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Austrian international was expected by some to be sold in the summer, but has now been reintegrated into the squad by Farke.

Leeds are anticipated to be one of the most active Championship clubs in the market during the January window, having entered this season with one of the division’s smallest first-team squad and very limited defensive options.
