Leeds United given ‘green signal’ to hold Anthony Caci medical

Leeds United have been linked with Mainz right-back Anthony Caci this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the 27-year-old’s fitness record ahead of a potential medical.

Caci made 33 league appearances last season and was a regular starter for the German side.

Caci expected to clear medical ahead of transfer

The French full-back, who’s capable of playing at right-back and left-back, played regularly last season, and thus, he should have no issues clearing his medical, believes Dr Brar.

Leeds want to sign Caci as he’s entering the final year of his contract and could be available for a cut-price fee. (The Sunday People on 8 June, pg. 58)

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds NewsDr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Caci: “He had an adductor injury that kept him out of action for a while, but that was back in the 2019/20 season.

“Last season, he played a decent amount of games and he should not have issues with clearing his medical.

“There will be adapting to a new country that takes time; however, potentially learning a new language, but purely from a fitness perspective, he should not face any issues.”

Leeds United should make shrewd Caci transfer

Signing Caci would be a smart move for Leeds United as they prepare for the Premier League.

The 27-year-old Mainz defender’s versatility – capable of playing right-back, left-back, or midfield – offers Daniel Farke tactical flexibility.

Caci’s 33 appearances in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, with one goal and seven assists, highlight his attacking flair and defensive solidity, ideal for Farke’s high-pressing system.

His experience in Germany’s top flight, helping Mainz secure European football, ensures he can handle Premier League demands.

With Junior Firpo likely leaving Elland Road, Caci’s aggression, speed and creativity make him a strong replacement, potentially outshining Jayden Bogle in attacking output while adding competition and depth to the backline.
