Leeds United fine to be doubled after Companies House reveal – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has shared that Leeds United are set to be fined for filing their latest accounts late with Companies House, with nothing yet posted by the club.

Despite the deadline being 31 March, the Whites have still not posted their paperwork, doing the same last year and waiting until 06 April.

The finance expert shared that fines are doubled if limited companies are late to submit their findings in consecutive years, with the fee currently standing at £300.

“I think it’s from £150 the fine for late filing,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“It’s not much in the grand scheme of things but there is no real need for it. Penalties for late filing, up to one month is £150, one to three months is £375, three to six months is £750, and more than six months is £1500.

“Although, the penalty is double if they are late two years in a row, so it will be £300.”

This appears to be so unnecessary.

Despite Leeds’ accounts tending to be in good condition, they are set to post them late once again with the paperwork still not being filed by the club.

Of course, £300 is nothing to a football club and owner, but it is the message that it sends out with no real reason behind the findings not being available already.

Sharpen up, Leeds.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
