Leeds United: Bizarre Elland Road news leads to more loss of windfall – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United will have lost windfall after the “bizarre” turn of events that left Elland Road and the surrounding areas closed.
The finance expert admitted that with it being during the international break, no games were scheduled and the online services will have worked to keep losses at a minimum.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a credible threat was made on the stadium, which led to the club shop, ticket office and Elland Road being cordoned off for more than 24 hours.

“It’s just one of those bizarre things that can happen at any point which throws things financially,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“It wouldn’t be a significant hit, given there was no match due to take place.
“Ticket office closed but you still have the online shop that would still be able to be processed assuming the systems are fine, so you are then narrowing down to foot falling the shop and people who may have bought tickets on those days but then may still come back.
“It’s not a significant amount of money, but an example of a really bizarre situation that can impact a club. You have contingency plans for a lot of things but it is one of those that you never expect to happen.”

Andrea Radrizzani and the board will not have accounted for losses such as these at Elland Road, with it not being something that happens every day.
Thankfully, it was during the international break and no games were affected, as well as no one being hurt due to threat being established as credible.
Now, it’s time to move on and hope something like this does not happen again.
In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
