Leeds United Archie Gray discussions will start at end of season in ‘huge’ transfer verdict
Archie Gray will have talks with Leeds United over his future at Elland Road the end of the season, Paul Robinson has suggested.
The 17-year-old has had a superb breakthrough season, impressing mainly at right-back but also excelling when playing in a more in a more familiar central midfield role.
Gray’s performances have not gone unnoticed, though, with the youngster linked to the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United said to be circling (HITC).
Former Leeds goalkeeper Robinson thinks it has been “huge” for Gray to be a first-team regular this season and believes he is comfortable at Elland Road but thinks the only way his future at Thorp Arch is guaranteed is if the club become an established Premier League side.
“His development line is a very clear one the way he’s been playing first-team football every week, it’s huge for someone of his age to be playing week in and week out in a team that’s competing for a league title,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Next season, I think like a lot of Leeds players, his future will depend on what league Leeds will be in and right now there’s a strong chance they will be in the Premier League.
“Discussions obviously then will start. Listen, with Archie Gray and the way he’s played this year, regardless of what league Leeds are in there’s going to be potential suitors that test Leeds in the summer with bids because he’s that good and he’s had that good of a first season.
“And if he stays at Leeds next season, regardless of what league they’re in, this conversation’s not going to go away because this lad’s going to continue developing, keep getting better.
“This conversation’s not going to go away until Leeds are an established Premier League side, which is a fantastic thing for Leeds and the player.”
Will Archie Gray leave Leeds United this summer?
There is absolutely no getting away from the fact that Gray is going to have a huge queue of teams desperate to sign him in the summer.
He has been brilliant for Leeds and a player of his age and quality is always going to gain admiring glances from elsewhere.

But, having said that, he is a Leeds fan and Leeds is in his DNA. If the Whites can get promoted then it is hard to imagine he will look to move on.
If they can’t then it might make Leeds’ hand a little weaker but he might decide that the exposure he is getting under Daniel Farke might make it in his interest to reject offers from elsewhere.
