Paul Robinson believes Leeds United may have already made their decision concerning Junior Firpo's future at Elland Road.

The 28-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a new injury, is about to enter the final six months of his contract with the Whites, with no sign of an extension being signed.

Daniel Farke was quizzed about the situation in a recent press conference, suggesting that the middle of the Championship campaign was not a time for it to be discussed [LeedsLive].

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: "He's one of the players who struggled in the Premier League when the club were at a different level. Defensively, he looked very susceptible and vulnerable.

"Going forward, you can see what he brings, but defensively in the Premier League, he got found out. The club might just be waiting to see where they're at before assessing their options.

"If he's that close to the end of his contract, he's either in negotiations, said he's not signing a new one, or been told that he's not getting one. You don't go this far down the line without discussions.

Leeds United to get rid of Junior Firpo?

"Because it's so quiet and we're not really hearing anything, it suggests the club are not that forthcoming with a new deal for him."

The Dominican Republic international has been an integral part of Farke's squad for the last two campaigns, notching double-digit goal contributions in the league during that time.

Sam Byram has been more than comfortable at left-back in his absence, but with his attacking prowess missing on the left flank, support has been left for Jayden Bogle to carry.

With the left-back injured once again, having missed a portion of the start of last campaign due to a knee problem, his injury record might be enough to see him exit for free instead.
