Joel Piroe backed at Leeds United despite what happened recently

Leeds United should stick with Joel Piroe as their main striker and trust the Dutchman to score goals, David Norris has said.

Daniel Farke answered the increasingly loud demands to give Piroe a start following his goalscoring exploits from the bench early in the season, but he has now failed to net in his last three starts.

Former Leeds midfielder Norris backs Farke to keep patience in Piroe, whose last goal came on 4 October against Sunderland after the disappointing goalless draw at Bristol City.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “It’s a difficult one when you’re so effective coming off the bench not to stick with that.

“I still think Piroe is the best finisher at the club, so I think Leeds should keep their faith in him for now.

“We’ve talked about the squad size, so it’s crucial that Farke does have these options.”

Leeds United have decisions to make in attack

Piroe has outscored Joseph this season and Leeds will want a return on their £12m investment from when they signed him from Swansea City.

Farke seems set on a system which has largely worked this season but looked fragmented against Bristol City as Piroe was virtually anonymous and Joseph was quiet when he came on, forcing one half-chance straight after entering the fray.

Among other attacking options remain Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, neither of whom are gaining any considerable playing time.
