Leeds United transfer news is unfortunate with player exodus on cards – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has insisted that the harsh reality of relegation from the Premier League would mean that every Leeds United will have their sale price.

The finance expert admitted that the quickest way to balance the books after relegation is still sell players with the Whites in real danger with three games to go.

It comes after The Telegraph shared that Leeds believe that Patrick Bamford, Brenden Aaronson, Wilfired Gnonto and Tyler Adams can recoup £100m+ alone.

“That’s the better way to look at this, every player has their price,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“You’ve got instances where certain players will be in better positions to move than others in the open market. There is no guarantee that you will get the value you want for those players, but you’ll have those that generate asset value.

Unfortunately, for the fans it has to be that following relegation as the revenue drop off is so significant, so you have to balance that accordingly and one way you look to do that quickly is to lower the cost of players on your books to generate a transfer fee.

It’s not a surprise to see some of those names mentioned and not a surprise to see that as a strategy. Of course, from the fan side of things that is unfortunate as you will want to retain some of those players to get back up to the Premier League as quickly as possible.”

Relegation from the Premier League this season was said to be impossible by Andrea Radrizzani, but his reckless spending and ability to be swayed by Victor Orta has cost the club massively.

Leeds fans do not deserve this, but they have been made to watch rubbish since the departure of Marcelo Bielsa and they are set to pay the price if form is anything to go by.

Now, it looks likely that a real player exodus will follow – thank you for nothing, Andrea.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
