Exclusive: 'He's never settled' – Paul Robinson on Leeds 26y/o he played with in the PL

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that the goal Patrick Bamford scored against Blackburn last Saturday will give him a real lift and could send him on the run Leeds need.

However, Robinson, who played with Bamford at Burnley in the 16/17 Premier League season, said that the Leeds striker has “never settled” anywhere and added that there always seems a reason for him to move on.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “It was a very good performance at the weekend. Patrick Bamford got his goal as well and that will help give him a lift as he is a real confidence player.

“With him scoring and it’s well-documented – we’ve talked about Leeds’ lack of goals a lot… there were a lot of positives to come out of Elland Road on Saturday.

“I’ve played with Patrick at Burnley and he is a confidence player. Every club he has been at he has scored goals but he’s had a lot of clubs and there always seems to be a reason for him to move on, so he’s never settled, but Bielsa seems to like him.

“He seems to like what he offers the team on and off the ball, and as I said he is a confidence player so hopefully he can get a run of goals and score the amount needed to give Leeds automatic promotion.

“A weight will have been lifted off his shoulders.”

Bamford scored four goals in his first five games for Leeds this season but then blanked for a run of 10 games.

The goal he scored against Blackburn was from the penalty spot so the striker is still searching for his first from open play since the 3-0 win against Stoke on August 24.

Leeds’ next game is away at Luton on Saturday, November 23.
