Deal is on: Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds United signing after Charles De Ketelaere development

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson predicts Leeds United will be signing Club Brugge forward Charles De Ketelaere after the Belgian was left out of a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

On 9 July, 21-year-old De Ketelaere was nowhere to be seen as Brugge lost 4-2 against FC Copenhagen.

It comes after Italian newspaper Libero reported in their print edition (7 July, page 30) that Leeds had tabled a bid worth £29.8million, plus £4.3million in add-ons, for the Brugge striker.

AC Milan have also been strongly linked with the Belgium international but that Libero update suggests that the Whites are causing the player’s head to slightly turn.

Libero added on Sunday (10 July, page 30) that De Ketelaere was left out of Brugge’s squad against Copenhagen due to the ongoing negotiations regarding his future.

And speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson predicted after this information that it’s a deal that could happen.

“It looks like that deal might be going through.

You see it a lot now – more than you ever used to – players getting left out of pre-season tours and pre-season friendlies if there’s a potential move for them.

It doesn’t take an intelligent person to work out that if they’re not part of the squad in pre-season, their future lies elsewhere.”

De Ketelaere won the Belgian league title with Club Brugge last season and also represented them in the Champions League group stages.

He made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Brugge club, scoring 18 goals and supplying 18 assists.

In other Leeds United news, this Leeds player has been spotted on the plane to Australia with the rest of the squad despite major transfer news emerging this weekend.
