Brenden Aaronson reputation ‘harmed’ at Leeds United as he’s backed for 24/25

Dan Bardell doesn’t see Brenden Aaronson being a direct replacement for Crysencio Summerville at Leeds United.

The reining Championship Player of the Year confirmed a move to the Premier League with the Hammers activating his release clause.

With the Dutchman leaving, there is a chance for current Leeds stars to step up with the returning loanee Aaronson being one of those.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the US international could thrive in the second tier but won’t replace Summerville directly.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “I think Leeds needs a more dynamic wide option to replace what Summerville did.

I don’t see Aaronson being his replacement. It is good to integrate him back in because he’s clearly lost form and his reputation has been harmed.

Like Summerville, I think a year in the Championship could be the making of him and the test of his metal.

I don’t see him being the direct replacement that Daniel Farke needs.

It is safe to say that the attacking midfielder isn’t the most popular figure at Elland Road right now.

The 23-year-old was booed and jeered by the Whites’ supporters as he entered the pitch in a 2-1 preseason clash against Valencia.

There is plenty of work to be done by Aaronson if he wants to get fans on side but Farke looks set to give him that opportunity.

With Summerville making the move away to West Ham, there is room in the attacking set-up for Leeds where the former RB Salzburg man could slot in.

Although it is disappointing to have lost their talisman, if Georgino Rutter stays and can combine well with the American, it could be an exciting campaign once again.

In other Leeds news, the Whites may look to repeat their Crysnecio Summerville trick with a new transfer this summer.
