Daniel Farke believes that Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter is a player who is "full of potential".

This comes after Rutter had a strong campaign during the 2023/24 season following his far-from-easy transition to Premier League football the season before.

Farke spoke to LeedsLive (6 August) about the Frenchman and claimed that he's a player that can drive him "crazy" at times.

“We work a lot on his positioning,” he said. “It’s a personal project of myself. I also talk a lot to him in order to improve him, from his feeling for the game, when he can take risks because sometimes you could go crazy as a manager when he does his little flicks in our own half.

“He still a bit sometimes like a young horse who needs a bit of leadership and that everyone takes care of him, but he's also so precious and so full of potential. Even today, it was like a young horse who was unplayable at times.”

Georginio Rutter needs to take his game up a notch for Leeds United

Since arriving in West Yorkshire, Rutter hasn't had the easiest of transitions from life in the Bundesliga.

The first half of a season that Rutter spent in England was quite rough. Leeds were a team that seemed to have already accepted that they were going to lose their Premier League status and didn't want to try keep themselves up.

At 21 years old, this was quite a lot of pressure for him to handle. This resulted in the Frenchman playing just 13 games across all competitions and only managing to garner one assist.

Georginio Rutter in Leeds United kit
Leeds United paid a club-record fee for Georginio Rutter in January 2023.

However, the attacker seemed to refind his form in 2023/24 and managed to contribute to 24 goals across all competitions.

This strong form even managed to get the attacker a bid from Brighton [Adam Pope, 2 July] which was swiftly rejected by the club and now, especially with the recent exit of Crysencio Summerville, Rutter needs to step it up another gear.

However, as they say, only time will tell what the future has in store for Leeds, but, with Rutter in their ranks, they won't go far wrong.
