BBC pundit wowed as Josh Tymon to Leeds United story emerges amid Junior Firpo injury reveal
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson is thrilled to see Leeds United being linked with Stoke left-back Josh Tymon as he’s someone who can compete with Junior Firpo for a spot in Jesse Marsch’s starting line-up.
Leeds’ left-back options are looking very light ahead of the new season with Stuart Dallas out until the New Year with a fractured femur, Leif Davis linked with Ipswich [Daily Mail] and on Wednesday (13 July), it was confirmed that Firo, 25, will miss eight weeks of action due to injury.
As confirmed by Jesse Marsch, via The Athletic, the former Barcelona left-back suffered a knock in the friendly win over Blackpool and won’t be back until early September.

Leeds have already been linked with Stoke’s Tymon with The Daily Mail reporting via their print edition (7 July, page 79) that he’s on the radar of Victor Orta this summer.
Robinson is seemingly a big fan of Tymon and sees him as a player who can challenge Firpo for a starting spot once he’s back to full fitness.
The former goalkeeper also claimed that Europa League finalists Rangers are keen on Tymon.
“Tymon’s got a lot of experience for someone who’s at such a young age,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“It’s obviously an area they’re going to look to strengthen, although Junior Firpo played really well against Blackpool and got his first goal for Leeds.
“It’s a big opportunity for Firpo this season.

“I think there’s potential with him but his defensive frailties shone through last season. But the lad at Stoke would be a good option because when you look at it, you can’t rely on Firpo to perform at an acceptable level week in and week out.
“With Stuart Dallas out for so long, Leif Davis looking like he’s moving and Firpo being inconsistent, it’s an area they’re going to look at.
“Rangers clearly want him as well and it wouldn’t be a bad deal. It would certainly put pressure on Firpo to perform.”
Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon account on 5 June that Rangers have an interest in Tymon but the Scottish giants still have Borna Barisic and Calvin Bassey on their books so it remains to be seen what their stance is on the Stoke left-back as it stands.
In other Leeds United news, Kalvin Phillips has been slammed for “patronising” Leeds fans with a gesture he made after he joined Manchester City.
