Andrea Radrizzani could take yet another Leeds United risk after takeover news – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Andrea Radrizzani would take a big risk if he stayed at Leeds United for another season rather than selling his stake to the 49ers Enterprises.

Reports have suggested that the Italian could remain at Elland Road for another shot at promotion should the Whites drop into the Championship from the Premier League.

The finance expert admitted that the sporting risk would arrive should Leeds stay in the second tier with the financial challenge rising every year that happens.

“The sporting jeopardy remains,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“We are talking here in a sense that you get relegated and come back up, that’s no guarantee.

Obviously, parachute payments help with that and the stats will tell you that clubs in receipt of those payments are more likely to get promoted than those who don’t, so you have got a bit of a window there where the odds are stacked in your favour, but only three teams can go up.

There is always that sporting risk that it doesn’t happen straight away and the longer you’re in that league, then the bigger the financial challenge becomes and the ability to get out goes away the longer you stay in it.”

Ask any fan at Leeds right now and they would share their wish for Radrizzani to leave the club and go out in the summer, leaving things to the 49ers.

The Italian got the Whites back to the big time and has to be praised for that, but it has been shocking since with two relegation battles and a likely drop this season.

The time is right to split ways this summer, it simply has to happen.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
