Keith Hackett shares major concerns at Leeds fans throwing objects at Elland Road

We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett to the MOT Leeds News team. Each week, Hackett will discuss the big moments from the latest Leeds United games and deliver his verdict on whether his successors got their calls right or wrong…

Keith Hackett has shared his great concern at Leeds United fans throwing objects onto the pitch regularly this season.

The ex-Premier League official expects action and contact from the Police soon, with the club also said to be very concerned.

Objects were thrown at Burnley players yesterday during our 3-1 win, weeks after the same happened against Arsenal at Elland Road.

“They’re celebrating a goal, they’re on the pitch,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“They have a right to celebrate and they’re doing that in a proper and ordinary manner and on comes an object – that looked pretty big.

“It did hit a player who had to have treatment, if you’re the person who has thrown that object, expect a call from the police very shortly.

“It’s totally unacceptable behaviour, the authorities will be looking at that, and the clubs themselves, they don’t want this to happen.”

Not good enough.

We can all complain when players step over the line at Elland Road celebrating, but Burnley didn’t exactly do that yesterday.

There are no excuses for grown men throwing things onto the pitch, with Raphinha even voicing his concern after the incident.

The only thing that is going to stop these incidents are banning orders, something that will happen once the footage is reviewed of The Kop.

Something needs to be done quickly before the authorities start taking it out on the club rather than the fans.
