49ers slammed amid £100m Leeds United development, fans right to be furious
Paul Robinson believes multiple figures high up at Elland Road, such as 49ers Enterprises, should be “held accountable” after Leeds United endured a “frustrating” transfer window.
Daniel Farke saw several of his key players depart the club during the summer, having missed out on promotion to the Premier League and losing important stars in Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Glen Kamara and Archie Gray as a result.
While Leeds racked up a considerable amount of funds from these transfers, fans were frustrated by the lack of reinforcements being signed, with the club waiting until the final two days to complete deals.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I thought it was a poor transfer window for Leeds. They lost a lot of talent, though the announcement of Willy Gnonto’s contract extension was very well-timed.
“Over £100million of talent walked out the door, and all the new signings have undisclosed transfer fees, so you don’t actually know how much of that was spent on players. Fans have rightfully questioned the motives there.
“They stripped over £100million worth of talent out of the club. There’s a new investment from Red Bull. Manor Solomon is a really clever signing; he’s Premier League quality.
“Regardless of him, looking at Rothwell, Ramazani, Tanaka, these are players who would not necessarily have fit into the Leeds side from last year. You can completely understand the fans’ frustration.
“A lot of people must be held accountable. The manager does not have the final decision on each transfer, but it seemed that the most important thing was getting people out and understanding the bank balance before going into the transfer market.
“It was clear to see how Leeds were doing their business, and it was frustrating to see.”
Leeds United transfer window leaves fans frustrated
Before the late flurry of additions, including Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt, the only out-field additions had been Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle.

Fans were completely underwhelmed by the energy and urgency in finding new players after some of last season’s best performers walked through the exit door, with the fear of missing out on relegation once again.
While the Whites have improved their form drastically after a rocky couple of opening games, there is still an overriding feeling that Farke is lacking options in all positions, which could be a problem further on in the season.
