View: Leeds must unleash Leif Davis v Sheffield Utd

Leif Davis has already made his Premier League debut for Leeds United but it was a case of blink and miss it with short cameos against Man City and Man United.

He’s only started one game in the Championship, back in 2018, but we think Bielsa should give him his full Premier League debut against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Davis is back from injury after missing the Chelsea game with a small muscular problem.

He played 90 minutes for the Under-23s last Monday, helping keep West Brom out in an impressive 5-0 win.

And there’s a very good reason why now is the time to start him.

Gjanni Alioski made major headlines last week when it was reported that he’s signed a pre-contract agreement with Galatasaray. [Football Insider]

That’s huge news that could signify his impending exit – he’s not signed his new Leeds contract offer and Phil Hay has claimed that’s not going to be improved upon by the club.

Leeds are going to sign a new left-back but Davis deserves the chance to show Bielsa what he can do before the summer.

He’s been a solid performer for the Under-23s and at 21-years-old really needs to make the step-up.

If he puts in a solid performance, there’ll be a good shout to let him be the main back-up to our new signing, with Stuart Dallas playing better in midfield.

Some Leeds fans are desperately unhappy about Alioski’s impending move to Galatasaray.

We’d prefer him to move somewhere else but we’re not going to wipe his legacy at the club because of where he moves to.

However, if he is leaving, Leeds should do what’s best for the club – and that’s checking the suitability of our left-back options ahead of a summer when Leeds are likely to spend big again.
