Patrick Bamford's future at Leeds United could rest on a January transfer development at Sunderland.

The one-cap England international has been linked with a move away from Elland Road this winter with Wrexham interested in completing a deal [Ben Jacobs].

Given that the 31-year-old has made limited appearances in the Championship this season, a move away could make sense but his departure would leave the Whites' squad light.

This has seen Daniel Farke seek out attacking reinforcements in January but now looks set to fail which could benefit Bamford's future in Yorkshire.

The German has shown an interest in signing Louie Barry on loan from Aston Villa after being recalled from his loan at Stockport County by Unai Emery.

It appears that the 21-year-old is set to go straight back out on a temporary deal with many Championship sides interested.

The versatile forward now looks set to have made up his mind on his future with Sunderland set to land the ex-Barcelona youngster ahead of Leeds [TEAMtalk].

This will represent a blow for the Whites given how much of a positive attacking impact the Villa ace could have had at Elland Road.

Now that this deal looks to be off the table, Bamford is likely to be forced to stay at Elland Road which may suit him at this stage of his career.

The former Chelsea man is now 31 and after being in LS11 for seven years, he will be comfortable and won't be desperate to depart in January.
