Patrick Bamford exit call now made at Leeds United ahead of 30 August transfer deadline
Leeds United have a lot of work to do before the transfer window slams shut on the 30 August, with Daniel Farke’s priority being a few last-minute additions.
The majority of the Whites’ outgoing business is already done and dusted, with the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter all departing Elland Road for big-money fees.
However, one name that Farke’s side reportedly want to sell before the transfer window slams shut is Patrick Bamford whose future in Yorkshire hangs in the balance [Daily Mail, 16 May].
So far, there has been very little interest in the former England international and Leeds’ decision over his future may now have been made for the Whites after recent developments at Elland Road.
Will Patrick Bamford exit Leeds United after Elland Road transfer rumours?
When team news landed at Hillsborough for Friday night’s (23 August) clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Bamford’s name was nowhere to be seen both in the starting XI or the substitutes bench.
Shortly after, Farke confirmed that the forward had been ruled out with a slight hamstring injury and while he isn’t expected to be sidelined for an extended period, he could miss the clash with Hull City [Graham Smyth, 23 August].
The Whites are set to welcome the Tigers to Elland Road on Saturday 31 August ahead of the international break and the day after the summer transfer window slams shut.
If Bamford is a doubt for the fixture against Hull, he is unlikely to be fit to complete a move to a new club before the end of August and therefore it seems likely that he will still be a Leeds United player when September rolls around.
While sections of the support will be left incredibly disappointed if the forward doesn’t exit Elland Road this summer, it does feel as though Farke cannot afford to lose the Englishman in the coming days.
The German’s options at the top end of the pitch are incredibly limited now that Rutter has departed and while there is still time to sign a new number nine, Leeds already have a lot more work to do and don’t need to add to their shopping list.
