Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has made one change to his Whites starting XI for the clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday 23 August.

The Whites manager has dropped Joel Piroe following a disappointing showing against West Brom at The Hawthorns, with Brenden Aaronson taking the Dutch forward's place in the starting XI.

Patrick Bamford is also missing from the matchday squad, with the forward nowhere to be seen in either the starting XI or substitutes bench despite coming off the bench against the Baggies last time out.

Are Leeds United close to any new signings ahead of the transfer deadline?

Leeds United were never expected to make any new additions ahead of Friday night's clash, but the lack of transfer activity at Elland Road is clear for everyone to see now that Farke has named his squad for tonight's match.

The Whites' starting XI remains strong and could certainly compete at the top of the Championship table, but the complete lack of depth is evident on the bench where the German's options are only becoming more limited.

Leeds and the 49ers have taken steps in the right direction with the signing of Largie Ramazani for a reported £9.9million [Fabrizio Romano, 22 August], but that has to be the start of their last-minute business rather than the end.

Hopefully, the Whites will finally pick up their first win of the season at Hillsborough tonight and then the transfer window can have their undivided attention between now and the end of August.

It would certainly ease the pressure on Farke and the board above him at Elland Road if Leeds were heading into September with a win under their belt and a couple of new signings through the door.
