James Pearce has claimed that he is “not aware” of any Liverpool interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha as speculation continues to grow.
Football Insider have reported that the talent spotters of the Premier League champions had been blown away by the Brazilian star at Elland Road.
The Liverpool journalist for the Athletic admitted that the summer is a long way off, and the Reds will only be influenced by what happens between now and the end of the season.
Writing in an official Q&A with Liverpool fans after their 3-1 defeat against Leicester on Saturday, Pearce shared the major update on that speculation.
“Not aware of anything in that speculation currently,” he wrote.
“The summer is a long way off and transfer plans will be influenced by what happens in the coming months.”
Raphinha isn’t going anywhere.
This is the message that we need to get across to every club in the Premier League, not just Liverpool as he continues to shine.
We can’t remember a better signing at Elland Road since we were relegated from the Premier League back in 2004, and we’re delighted he has signed a long-term contract.
The scary thing for other clubs is that he continues to get better, and that interest may continue to grow, but Leeds will take it as a compliment.
Liverpool have been linked, and that speculation appears to have been dismissed for now, and Whites fans will be delighted with that news.
