MOT View: Defender to quit billionaire-owned club within weeks but it’s not news Leeds wanted

Leeds United have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain defender Tanguy Kouassi since 90min reported in April that the defender could head to Elland Road in the near future.

90min claimed that PSG were trying to tie Kouassi, 18, down to a new contract after he broke into their first-team this season, appearing 13 times in all competitions.

It was understood that for him to continue his development, PSG would then consider sending the French centre-back out on loan to Leeds because billionaire owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been in talks with Andrea Radrizzani about a takeover at Elland Road.

Radrizzani and Al-Khelaifi have a good working relationship with one another and a link between PSG and Leeds would have been something on the cards if QSI had pushed through a takeover by now.

But that has all gone quiet lately and now, an update on Kouassi’s future is hardly the news Leeds would have wanted to hear if they were keen on a loan deal for the teenager.

French news outlet RMC Sport has now reported that Kouassi has turned down the chance to sign a new contract at PSG and will leave the Ligue 1 champions at the end of June.

It is now known where he will head after leaving Paris but it seems pretty unlikely he will go to Leeds now that a loan deal is off the cards.

Kouassi’s been linked with Real Madrid since the speculation about a move to Leeds began so the hopes of signing him permanently are bound to be low.

This should be the last we hear about Kouassi and Leeds.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites were in talks to play a match against this Premier League club.
