Leeds United seem set to miss out on signing Tanguy Kouassi with the Paris Saint-Germain defender reportedly close to joining Real Madrid.
90min reported last month that Leeds were in pursuit of Kouassi, 17, and PSG were willing to send him on loan to Elland Road in a bid to further his development.
It was understood that PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi was in talks with Andrea Radrizzani about a takeover at the Yorkshire club with a link between the two sides being formed.
Kouassi is one of the hottest young prospects in European football with him already earning 13 senior appearances for PSG and scoring three goals.
However it seems the Ligue 1 champions are set to part ways with the France Under-18 international as Spanish news outlet TodoFichajes claims that Real Madrid are on the verge of signing him.
It is reported that the La Liga giants are “very close” to striking a deal for Kouassi, who is also wanted by Barcelona and Leeds’ rivals Manchester United, and those in charge at the Bernabeu want to get things wrapped up as soon as possible.
If that happens then it seems Leeds will miss out on signing a very good young player who would have no doubt made an impact at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa.
If Kouassi can play for PSG’s first team then there’s no doubt he would have gotten into Bielsa’s defence when Ben White and Gaetano Berardi might not be at the club past the end of this season.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have also been beaten in the race to sign this striker.
