Leeds United need to sign more players like Charles de Ketelaere
Leeds United are preparing an offer to sign Club Brugge’s Charles de Ketelaere in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.
The reports suggest that the Whites are likely to face competition from AC Milan for the signature of the Belgian winger, as they became Serie A champions and will provide Champions League football to the 21-year-old.
The club is also working on a move to sign one more winger at the end of the window considering they look set to lose Raphinha this summer.
De Ketelaere has two years left on his contract with the Belgian club and has a transfer value of £27 million according to the Transfermarkt.
De Ketelaere has been one of the standout players in the Belgian League and has been massively applauded for his performances through 2021/22.
In the recently concluded season with Club Brugge, the forward scored 14 league goals and provided seven assists across 33 appearances.
He started 91% of the league games and participated in 29% of the goals [Transfermarkt].
Even though he prefers to play behind the striker, he can also play as the lone forward or on the right wing. His main instinct has always been to be involves in an attack, and to pick out strikers and wingers with his delicate passing.
He is extremely critical for a counter-attacking system as he can play as a false nine to link play, or get in behind defences. That would be extremely important for Leeds when they play against the top sides.
Marsch is likely to lose Raphinha on a big-money move and knows that he cannot rely on Patrick Bamford for the entire season. Therefore, it is important that he gets the signing of De Ketelaere over the line as he is exactly the sort of player this side needs.
