Leeds United may have let transfer strategy slip as Luis Sinisterra loan deal option emerges

Leeds United may have let their transfer strategy for the summer of 2023 slip after it emerged that they’re open to allowing Luis Sinisterra to leave on loan.

The Whites suffered relegation to the Championship after three years in the top flight, and now face a tough summer of several senior exits and trying to ensure they can get back to the Premier League.

But the club are in a position where they don’t whether they are coming or going right now with the 49ers ownership up in the air as Andrea Radrizzani clings on for as much cash as possible.

It’s been shared by reports that several players have got relegation release clauses in their contracts, while senior players such as Tyler Adams are also expected to leave too.

But recent reports seem to suggest that Leeds have made a decision when it comes to their top players, and to try and find a way to ensure they don’t have to do a complete rebuild if it isn’t necessary.

A report from El Deportivo (2 June) claims that the club would be willing to loan Sinisterra to Bayer Leverkusen for the season to get his £70k p/w wages off the books.

That follows reports from Football Insider (5 June) that they would be open to a loan move for Brenden Aaronson, and another report from Football Insider (4 June) that the same is true for Tyler Adams.

If the club are willing to allow those three key players to leave the temporarily, it’s possible that they could be convinced to do a similar deal for other players too.

Should they manage to rebuild the squad strongly enough to compete in the second division and find themselves to be promoted at the first attempt, they would then have ready-made players available to them to give the top flight another crack.

If they failed to gain promotion, they still have all those players on their books to sell permanently and make a shed-load of cash.

It’s seemingly a win-win deal for everyone and could be the perfect strategy for a team who have invested heavily previously and are keen to get back into the top flight as quickly as possible – likely with new owners at the helm.

In other Leeds news, one star has been lined up as a replacement for an outgoing club legend in Europe.
