Barcelona want to sign Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca as Sergio Busquets replacement

Barcelona are lining up a transfer for Leeds midfielder Marc Roca as a replacement for outgoing Sergio Busquets this summer, according to Fichajes.net.

The Whites signed Roca from Bayern Munich last summer and the Spaniard made 36 appearances in all competitions as Leeds go relegated to the Championship.

The La Liga champions are set to lose their longest-serving player after he announced his departure following 722 appearances, and Roca has now been identified as a potential replacement by manager Xavi.

Crazy

Roca is very good on the ball but physically he really struggled in England, and was often kept afloat by playing next to Tyler Adams in the centre of the park.

As soon as Adams suffered injury he wasn’t able to cope and found himself in and out of the team under Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce during the run-in.

But despite that quality on the ball, there is no way that a club with the size and profile of Barcelona should be looking anywhere near him because he isn’t good enough for that level.

Busquets is seen as one of the best midfielders of all time in his position and role, and asking Roca to step into his shoes would be like asking a child to step into Liam Cooper’s boots at centre-back.

If they come with a half-decent offer we should be biting their hand off considering we paid a relatively low amount last season, and we can use it to bolster the squad for the Championship next season.

In other Leeds news, three U22 players are part of the plans for the new season.
