Leeds United are not in advanced talks for Adama Traore

Leeds United are not in advanced talks – or any kind of talks – to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore despite one Leeds news website reporting so.

Marching On Together caused a stir on Twitter with a story they posted on Thursday, which claimed Leeds are in “advanced talks” over a £40million swoop for the Spain international.

MOTForum’s Twitter account relayed the article, leading to a spate of replies from angry Leeds fans who cannot believe their club would be trying to sign Traore for such a large sum of money.

However, after a bit of digging by MOT Leeds News, we can rule out any notion that Leeds are in advanced talks for Traore because the Marching On Together website has completely misread a story by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Marching On Together’s article begins by saying: “The Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting on rumours that Leeds are in advanced talks, and ready to break the bank to bring Wolves forward Adama Traore to Elland Road this Summer for a reported 40m.”

However, the YEP simply hasn’t reported this.

The YEP regularly do round-up of transfer stories and journalist Jason Jones has covered separate stories saying that Leeds are interested in signing Traore for £40million, which originally comes from Eurosport, and another story by Football Insider which reports the Whites are in advanced talks over a deal for Birmingham youngster Amari Miller.

It’s a busy time of year with transfer rumours floating all over the place so we encourage Leeds fans to take extra care when reading and contemplating certain stories.

People usually see a headline and instantly feel as though that’s the full story but if you do a bit of digging, you’ll often find the truth.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have attempted to hijack a Premier League club’s swoop for this English player.
