Latte Lath transfer: £15.1m bid submitted amid Leeds hunt for Middlesbrough ace

Leeds United have been one of the best teams in the Championship this season and that is proven by where they find themselves in the league.

However, despite their strong showing in the second tier, there is always room for improvement, which is why it’s not much of a surprise to see the West Yorkshire outfit linked with moves for a fair few players in January.

One of which has been Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath who’s been on top form this season [Joe Donnohue, 10 January].

However, after a recent report from Di Marzio reporter Luca Bendoni (12 January), it feels like the Whites may need to look elsewhere as Serie A outlet Atlanta United have reportedly made a bid worth £15.1million for the Ivorian.

“Atlanta United submitted an official bid to Middlesbrough for forward, Emmanuel Latte Lath. The offer is worth around €18m including €1m in add-ons and important salary proposal to Latte Lath,” he wrote via his personal X account.

Why are Leeds United now out of the race for Emmanuel Latte Lath?

Although a move for the Boro talisman would no doubt make a lot of sense for the Whites, it feels like a fee worth over £15m is a lot for Daniel Farke to fork out, especially when he already has a multitude of strikers at his disposal.

Of course, there have been times when the likes of Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe have frustrated fans when in front of goal but at the moment, it feels like there are more pressing areas within Leeds’ squad that need bolstering.

Maybe if the Whites earn promotion to the Premier League and the 26-year-old doesn’t accept the move to the Serie A outfit then a deal could be discussed but £15m is an awful lot of money to spend on one player, especially in the second tier.

It’s clear that the West Yorkshire outfit have some money to spend in January but it feels like whatever resources they have, need to be focused on bringing in a new number 10 rather than a number nine.

In other Leeds news, Dan James was spotted in a “really nice” moment during the Whites’ 1-0 win over Harrogate on Saturday.
