Josuha Guilavogui may never start again for Leeds United after what he did in the 2-0 loss to Millwall.

The Whites crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of their fellow Championship side in a disappointing defeat at Elland Road on Saturday (8 February).

Daniel Farke made ten changes to his starting XI and the Frenchman was named as a starter for the first time since the 1-0 win over Harrogate in the previous round on 11 January.

The 34-year-old has made 13 appearances in the Championship this season but has not been in the starting line-up in any of them.

Josuha Guilavogui fails to impress for Leeds United

The former Wolfsburg man failed to impress as he was handed a rare start for the Whites against the Lions.

Given that his only two starts for the club have come in the FA Cup, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it is unlikely that he starts again this season.

Leeds United need far more from Guilavogui on the pitch

It is clear that Guilavogui is not going to make much of an impact for the Elland Road outfit on the pitch, with Farke only trusting him with cameo appearances from the bench.

With Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell ahead of him in the pecking order, there is little chance of him being handed a start anytime soon.

However, his impact will be felt off the pitch more so than on it - he is a motivational figure among the squad and that could help in their promotion push.

Farke revealed on 25 November that it was Guilavogui's pre-match speech to his teammates that inspired the thrilling 4-3 late victory against Swansea.

He also endeared himself to supporters even further with a heartfelt message after the 3-1 win over Middlesbrough on 12 December.

It is unlikely that the Frenchman will be kept around if Leeds manage to secure promotion to the Premier League if he cannot even get a start in the second tier, so it may have been his last start for the club.
